James “Jim” Walsh, 77, of New Ulm, MN died unexpectedly in Minneapolis Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Nov. 5 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm. A private burial followed in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. The New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard provided military honors.

James Patrick Walsh was born Jan. 10, 1943 in Elk Point. He graduated from Elk Point High School in 1961. He attended the University of South Dakota. He married Jane Aug. 28, 1965. Following college, Mr. Walsh served two years as a finance officer in the Army, after which he worked for the Associated Milk Producers from 1972 to 2015, specializing in dairy sales, retiring as vice president for sales and marketing.

Mr. Walsh was an avid volunteer. He coached his sons’ Little League teams and gave hundreds of hours to Special Olympics and Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter; four sons; a brother, Patrick Walsh of Elk Point; 10 grandchildren; and many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter.
