Merlin Dean Bryan, 80, formerly of Elk Point, died May 18, 2021 in Fremont, NE.
The Celebration of Merlin’s Life will be 2 p.m., Friday, May 28, at Kober Funeral Home in Elk Point with burial of ashes to follow at Elk Point Cemetery with VFW military honors conducted by Elk Point/American Legion. Visitation with family present will be an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Merlin Bryan was born April 2, 1941, to Harold and Dorothy (Ferdig) Bryan in Sioux Valley Township, Union County. He attended school in Elk Point.
He married Carol Estella Pies Sept. 23, 1961 in Pipestone, MN.
Mr. Bryan enlisted in the United States Army National Guard from 1960-1966. After he was discharged, he worked various jobs throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with family.
He is survived by two daughters, Denise Thompson of Magnolia, IA and Cindy Bryan of Fremont, NE; two sons, Glen (Amanda) Bryan of Eugene, MO and Tracy (Amanda) Bryan of Omaha; a brother, Truman (Linda) Bryan of Buna, TX; his ex-wife, Carol Smith; and several grandchildren.
Mr. Bryan was preceded in death by a brother, Arlin; a sister, Marilyn; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson.
