The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has released its environmental assessment for the South Sioux City to Sioux Falls A-line Replacement Project, proposed by North Natural Gas Company.
“Approval of the proposed project, with appropriate mitigating measures, would not constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the quality of the human environment,” according to FERC staff.
The report is available online at www.ferc.gov on the natural gas environmental documents page. Deadline to comment on the report is Feb. 4.
Northern proposes to construct over 85 miles of new pipeline from Sioux Falls to near Dakota City, NE and abandon in place just over 80 miles of existing pipeline. Their plans also include construction and modification of above-ground facilities, including metering facilities and town border station sites. They have held several public meetings in Elk Point to explain the project to affected landowners.
