As of Wednesday, April 15 the Union County Jail had 11 inmates. Union County Sheriff Dan Limoges said the numbers are lower than usual because of new safety procedures being followed. Everyone that is arrested and goes into the jail undergoes a health screening.

Lately, sitting circuit court judges have directed law enforcement to not arrest people on certain charges and just issue a citation along with a court date. This is to help with keeping the populations lower in the jail systems and stop potentially bringing COVID-19 into the jail.
