Dave Norby, citizen of North Sioux City since 1982, is the newest member of the North Sioux City City Council. Norby said he officially moved in 1982, but he spent most of his summers in town and around McCook Lake.

He was in the Army from 1969-72. In the 80s, Norby was President of the McCook Lake Association. Norby’s wife, Kenna, is retired. They’ve been married since 1971. They have a daughter, two grandsons and a great-grandson.

Norby ran for council because he wants to see a change on Northshore Drive.

“It feels like Hamilton Boulevard anymore,” Norby said. “Nobody adheres to the 25mph zone. Most people are doing 50. Some of them are doing 70. That’s probably the biggest [reason] for running.”
