Two events have been planned and two others postponed or cancelled in North Sioux City for October and December. North Sioux City Police Chief Rich Headid recommended postponing National Night Out 2020 until 2021 due to COVID-19. The North Sioux City City Council listened to the recommendation at their meeting Monday night, Sept. 21. The other event cancelled was the annual city’s Chili Feed; however, they are looking to replace it with a Fall Fest on Oct. 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The idea of the Fall Fest was brought to fruition between city staff and businesses along the strip. Businesses will utilize their parking lots and residents can come around for free items provided by the businesses along with items for purchase. The city will have their own booth where drawings will be held for prizes that are normally given out at the Chili Feed.

The second event planned for October is a Trunk-or-Treat sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Association.
