Five ordinances were on the agenda at Monday night’s Dec. 7 North Sioux City City Council meeting – two with a second reading and three with a first reading.

The council approved the second reading of Ordinance 2020-10 Sewer Rate Increase which will increase sewer rates for 2021. This is due to the increase Sioux City is passing along to North Sioux City.

Ordinance 2020-11 Revised Zoning Ordinance second reading was approved. The ordinance was prepared by SECOG and was recommended for council approval by Planning and Zoning at its Sept. 23 meeting. The changes requested at the last meeting were incorporated into the ordinance before the second reading.

The third ordinance was Ordinance 2020-12 Amendment to 17.120. This ordinance amends Title 17 Chapter 120 to add ADA requirements to the city’s sidewalk standards and to require sidewalk installation prior to an occupancy permit being issued. According to Christensen, this only applies to new construction. The council approved the first reading.

This ordinance amends Title 17 Chapter 124 to add ADA requirements to the city’s sidewalk standards and to require sidewalk installation prior to an occupancy permit being issued. According to Christensen, this only applies to new construction. The council approved the first reading.

The last ordinance discussed was Ordinance 2020-14 Amendment to 17.72 which amends Title 17 Chapter 72 to establish setbacks for property in cases where a platted right of way does not exist.
