empirical foods is building a new ground beef facility in Garden City, KS. It will bring 250 new jobs and more than $250 million in capital investments.
Groundbreaking took place in October, 2020. Plans are for it to be operational in 2023. The new facility will increase empirical's ground beef production by 50 percent.
A phase two, depending on demand, would double production.
The facility design and layout priorities reduced worker contact and provides appropriate spacing to ensure health and safety of the team.
This is the largest single investment in the company’s 40-year history.
Kansas has a focus on the expansion of value added beef processing in the state.
“After a long evaluation period to identify the perfect location for our new facility, we were pleased to settle on Garden City and could not have identified a better, more welcoming community,” said Nick Roth, president of empirical Technology, Inc, at the ground-breaking. “The state of Kansas, Garden City and the Finney County Economic Development Corporation have been excellent partners to the beef industry and companies like ours.”
