As of press time, only one candidate had filed for the two positions open on the Dakota Valley School Board.

Matt Thompson turned in his petition by the 5 p.m. March 6 deadline. The seats currently held by James Heeren and Kevin Hoffman are up for election, but neither man had returned a petition.

If no other petitions arrive via mail, postmarked on or before the March 6 deadline, the election scheduled for April 21 will be cancelled and someone will be appointed to a one-year term by the board.

Last week’s petition story listed the wrong date for the election in North Sioux City. That election will be Tuesday, April 14.
