Another successful COVID-19 vaccination clinic was held Monday, Feb. 15 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elk Point.
Representatives of Avera in Yankton were on hand to provide vaccines to nearly 160 people, despite the cold weather. Nicole Ebel, RN, said the first clinic on Feb. 8 also went smoothly. She said the space at Immanuel works well for what Avera needs, as there is plenty of room to spread out all the workers. Three volunteers helped with check-in, three more scheduled follow-up appointments, one did screenings and four nurses performed the vaccinations. Another nurse monitored vaccinated persons for 15 minutes after their shots.
Clinics are currently scheduled every Monday through March 9. As more vaccine becomes available, clinics will be extended as long as needed, according to Nathan Johnson, Avera Communications & Public Relations Partner, Marketing.
