The Elk Point Chamber-sponsored winter clothing drive was so successful, it took three loads to deliver them all the donated items.

Union County Electric and the Leader-Courier served as drop-off points. The first delivery of children’s items was made to Elk Point-Jefferson, followed by a pickup load of items taken to the Elk Point Food Pantry. Another trunkload went to the food pantry just this week.

Originally intended to end the first week of December, the drive will now last as long as donors are willing to drop off items at the Leader-Courier office, 108 W. Main Street.

The Elk Point Chamber had a great response during their winter clothing drive and donated many items to both the Elk Point Food Pantry and the Elk Point-Jefferson School. If anyone is in need of winter clothing, they are welcome to stop in at the food pantry to retrieve a coat, mittens, scarves or hats. Various sizes are there.
