Elmwood Cemetery

Elmwood Cemetery was ready for Memorial Day celebrations.

Elmwood Cemetery, located six miles southeast of Elk Point, has been decorated for Memorial Day. The cemetery is maintained by Daniel and Elizabeth Rosenbaum.

The cemetery served the town of Texas, which had a hotel, store and horse ferry to cross the Missouri River. It was a lumber town that provided timber to passing steamboats. The post office was established in October, 1870 and discontinued in January, 1875. The town was a victim of railroads.
