Top SD HS basketball players return to Sanford Pentagon

The best senior girls and boys high school basketball players in South Dakota will meet at the Sanford Pentagon for the 2024 SD All Star Games on April 19 The boys game starts at 6 p.m. and the girls game begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. They will be available at the Pentagon Box Office on the day of the event only. Both games will be streamed live on the HudlTV platform. Rosters will be announced later.

Dakota Valley took down Baltic handedly in their 1st ballgame of the season, at home, on March 29. The final was 12-3 to end things after Baltic’s at-bat in the 7th. The Panthers grabbed 8 hits in the contest and looked strong.

Lady Panthers start season with back-to-back wins

The Panther softball team started their 2024 season off with back-toback wins versus Canton and Elk Point-Jefferson. Dakota Valley played both games at home. They defeated the C-Hawks on March 28 by a score of 19-4 and then took down the Huskies, 18-9, on March 29.

DV Esports participates in first state tournament

The Panther Esports team dominated at the Fenworks 2023-24 Esports state tournament held at South Dakota State University, in Brookings, on March 22 and 23. One state champion, multiple runner-ups and several top 10 finishes had Dakota Valley wrangling in the hardware. Fifteen teams, out of 20 in the South Dakota Esports pilot program, attended the tournament which was held at Club 71 of the Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium.

Huskies begin track season with record breaking speeds

The Dan Lennon Invite at the University of South Dakota opened this year’s track season for the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies on March 19. The Huskies started off well as sophomore Lauren McDermott broke a school record in the 60 meter hurdles with a 9.60 second finish.

Dakota Valley attends indoor track meets

Indoor track was the theme of the week for the Panthers as several athletes traveled to the Dan Lennon Class A indoor meet in Vermillion on Monday, March 18 and then to Mount Marty, in Yankton, on Thursday, March 21.

All-Conference basketball honors

Members of the Dakota Valley Girls and Boys Basketball team were named to the DAK-XII All-Conference teams. From the girls basketball team, eighth grader Ellan Otten was named to the first team and junior Cameryn Sommervold and eighth grader Aubree Worden to the third team.
