Dakota Valley State Track Preview

A full field of Dakota Valley athletes will be at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls on May 23-25 for the 2024 South Dakota High School State Track Meet. Coaches for the DV track team include: Vince Tucker (boys coach and throwers), Tammy Lilly (girls coach and sprinters), Ben Blaeser (jumpers and hurdles) and James Schmit (distance coach).

Dakota Valley Panthers steal win against Wagner

Down went Vermillion on Tuesday, May 14 as the Panther baseball team earned a victory by a score of 9-4. It was an away game, but Dakota Valley stayed strong to control the ballgame as it progressed. Trailing 1-4 as they entered the 5th inning, DV went to work and got 2 runs in the 5 , 2 more in the 6th plus 4 in the 7th.

Lady Panthers shoot strong at Vermillion meet

It was a nail biter for individual scoring at the girls golf invite, in Vermillion, on Monday, May 13. The Panthers played The Bluffs Golf Course and Katie Betsworth led the field with a +3 over par. Her score of 75 tied with Vermillion’s Ronnie Wilharm for the top slot. However, when it came down to the tie breaker, Betsworth won the decider to be crowned the champion at the meet.

Dakota Valley wins on road, drops one at home

Playing against Sioux Falls Christian, on May 13, the Panthers got things going quickly as the away team at the Sanford Sports Complex. Sophomore Mia Riibe put a bunt down to get on base in the lead-off spot.

Panthers go yard in win over number 2 seeded Castleton

Three softball games were left in Dakota Valley’s regular season play with a contest happening in Vermillion, on May 17. Then 2 home games were played on Saturday, May 18.

Elk Point-Jefferson softball has big win on senior night

It was a jammed packed week for the Elk Point-Jefferson softball squad as they played 3 games in 4 days. Their 1st match-up, on May 13, was versus Dell Rapids. Next up was Madison on May 14, and then they had their last game of the regular season on May 16 with Viborg-Hurley as their opponent.

Lady golfers face strong competion

T he Blu f fs G o l f Course, in Vermillion, was the place to be for the Elk Point-Jefferson girls golf team on Monday, May 13. The team finished in 8th place overall, and many Huskies found success on the greens and fairways.

Husky baseball loses close game at home to Tanagers

The Huskies baseball team lost a close one to the Tanagers of Vermillion on Tuesday, May 14. With all runs scored early, it was a 1-2 defeat for Elk Point-Jefferson on their home field.

EPJ State Track Preview 2024

There will be a lot of Huskies headed north on May 23-25. Their destination will be Howard Wood Field, in Sioux Falls, as many talented Elk Point-Jefferson track athletes go to work at the state meet. All classes in the state of South Dakota will be competing and EPJ looks to make their mark among the talented field of Class A schools.
