Suicidal male subject stopped on I-29

A 44-year-old male was stopped at mile marker 14 on Southbound I-29 early Tuesday morning, July 25 around 7:30 a.m. The male, from Watertown, SD, was reported to be a suicidal individual who had planned on committing suicide by cop.

CNOS supports local youth athletes

Suicide outside city of Elk Point

An individual born in 1990 from Sioux Falls, SD, was found hanged in their vehicle outside of Elk Point, Monday evening, July 24 around 8:30 p.m. The individual was found at the intersection of Highway 11 and 324th Street by a local person.

Days of ‘59 Greg Gagner Memorial Car Show results

The Jefferson Fire & Recuse departments sponsored the annual Greg Gagner Memorial Car Show during Jefferson’s Days of ’59 July 16. This year, the show had 80 entries, the most in recent years.

Elk Point city Council holds special meeting

Adams Homestead annual celebration

On August 14, 1997, Adams Homestead & Nature Preserve officially opened as a state park. They mark this very special occasion by having an annual festival on or around this day. This year Saturday, Aug. 12 has been selected as their festival date. Events will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Public asked to help with lead service line inventory

South Dakota water systems are asking residents to complete a quick five-minute survey as part of a statewide lead service line inventory. Residents will need a coin or key, magnet (any magnet will do) and smartphone to complete the survey.
