County deputies find missing Missouri boy

On July 8 at approximately 2:20 p.m., two Deputies with the Union County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 29 for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence. During the traffic stop, a 14-year-old juvenile was located sleeping in the back seat.

Board approves equipment building

Discussions continue on the radio tower for communications from Union County’s emergency responders located at the Union County Courthouse. The Union County Commissioners heard about more complications at their meeting Tuesday, July 11.

Connecting teens to God, each other and community

Three young men from the local area traveled across the state of South Dakota to Rapid City on a church mission trip from July 5 to July 9. Landon Greene, Ian Greene and Cody Schutte, all from Dakota Dunes, went with the group on behalf of Morningside Lutheran Church (MLC) in Sioux City.

County terminates contract for jail meals

The Union County Board of County Commissioners listened to concerns raised from Union County Sheriff Dan Limoges and Secretary Tracy Smith about the meals being provided to inmates at their meeting June 27.

Adapting Animals

Adapting Animals Nature Camp was held at the Adams Nature Preserve on June 27th, June 28th and June 29th. It was a hot three days for the campers, ages 8-10 years old, but a lot of enjoyment was had as they learned about a variety of animals and how they adapt in different surroundings.

Vocal sound impressionist and entertainer, Charlie Williams, visited the North Sioux City library on Thursday, June 29. A full room of children, parents and librar y patrons watched the 45 minute show during week five of the summer reading program.

RAGBRAI departure route announced

More than 25,000 cyclists will depart Sioux City Sunday, July 23 for the 50th annual Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI). A recommended route has been identi_ed by the Sioux City RAGBRAI Public Safety committee.
