Dunes approves resolutions

A Bond Resolution for the force main improvement project was approved at the Dakota Dunes Community Improvement District Board of Supervisors meeting March 18. The resolution approves the issuance of debt of $411,708 and for the South Dakota Clean Water State Revolving Fund Loan Program to finance a portion of the costs of the project.

Hauger named to Barron’s ranking of Top Financial Advisors

Edward Jones Financial Advisor Jon Hauger of Dakota Dunes has been named to Barron’s magazine’s Top 1,200 Financial Advisors. He subsequently ranked No. 6 in South Dakota. It is his third year among Barron’s top financial advisors. He previously ranked 6th in 2022 and 2023.

First place honors awarded to Panther Jazz Band

Jazz band members for the Panthers brought home first place honors from the University of South Dakota Jazz Band Festival in Vermillion on Tuesday, March 19. “This was a very tough contest as some of the top Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota jazz bands were there,” detailed DV band director Daryl Jessen.

Council discusses vandalism, donations

Vandalism and donations were two of the top topics at the North Sioux City City Council meeting on March 18. During council input, City Administrator Eric Christensen discussed an issue with the council with the city’s parks.

No election needed for school board

The Dakota Valley School Board held its monthly meeting March 11 and was informed that no election will be needed as only one petition was returned from Emily Norby. Board member Sara Weber's seat was open.

Commissioners help create ambulance district

The idea of an ambulance district for Elk Point began in November, 2022. The Elk Point Ambulance Board of Directors has been working toward creating the district, which would have the same boundaries as the current Elk Point Fire District.

Quiz Bowl grabs the silver

The Panthers played host to the DAK-XII Conference Quiz Bowl meet on Monday, March 18. Dakota Valley also earned runner-up honors at the round-robin style tournament.
