Park vandalized while closed

Meadows Park in Dakota Dunes was vandalized at the beginning of May. Someone broke the basketball hoop backboard by puncturing it at least four times with a metal pole. There were signs of damage in other areas of the park, including a wooden sign and 4x4 post found on top of the shelter. Dakota Dunes Community Improvement District District Manager Jeff Dooley said he estimates that $5,000 worth of damage was done at the park. Dooley stated that other areas in the Dunes have been vandalized as well. The Union County Sheriff’s Office has no suspects and is investigating. If anyone has any information on the vandalism, they are asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 605-356-2679.
