The LifeServe Blood Center blood drive sponsored by the Elk Point Community Jan. 21 had a great turn-out. Thirteen donors registered and 12 life-saving units of blood were donated at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Thank you to everyone that came out in the cold weather to help boost the local blood supply. The units donated at the blood drive can help save up to 36 lives.

There were several milestone donors, all from Elk Point – Bret Reed, five gallons; Richard Brown, nine gallons; and Kurt Hammitt, 10 gallons.

A special thanks to Rosemary Suing, Jean Limoges and the team at St. Joseph for sponsoring and hosting the blood drive.

The next blood drive in Elk Point will be Tuesday, March 24 from 2:30-6 p.m. at St. Joseph. To schedule an appointment, call LifeServe Blood Center at 800-287-4903 or go online to www.lifeservebloodcenter.org.
