Immanuel Lutheran Church’s Caring Committee is currently asking for donations for school supplies for Elk Point-Jefferson students. Most-needed items are earbuds and headphones, pens and #2 pencils, colored pencils, calculators, color markers and crayons, glue sticks, cleaning wipes and flash drives, minimum 4GB.
There is a drop box in the entry of the church for these donations, along with pocket-size lists of these items.
The group also collects hats/mittens/outerwear in the fall to give to the school, helps to provide gifts to children on the EPJ Angel Tree and it coordinates a PBJ Run (Peanut Butter & Jelly), a drive to collect foods to give to the local food pantry that kids can eat for lunch during summer break when the backpack program is not running.
During January, they conduct a Souper Bowl Drive (soup collection).
The eight-person committee is chaired by Tammy Austad.
