A California firm has purchased Prairie Lake apartment and Horizon apartments from The Good Samaritan Society of Sioux Falls that is part of Sanford Health.
California Commercial Investment Companies has been in the housing business for 25 years. In the upper Midwest, they have facilities in Sioux Falls; Storm Lake and Indianola, IA; Minneapolis, Eden Prairie and Hibbing, MN; and Dickinson, ND.
Horizon apartments was developed by the North Sioux City Housing Authority.
The goal was affordable senior living. Northport was the first and Prairie Lake the second affordable housing apartments by Lutheran Social Services as part of their housing initiatives.
Good Samaritan took over in 2017. They were acquired by Sanford Health in 2019.
Plans for Northport are to eventually rebuild, but that will take time.
Kristin Hughes will continue as manager of the facilities.
