A verbal threat made by a Dakota Valley middle school student Wednesday, Feb. 26 wasn’t taken lightly, according to an email sent out by Superintendent Jerry Rassmussen.
“The identity of the student was known,” Rasmussen said. “The student was immediately isolated from other students and staff, allowing normal operations of the school. The North Sioux City Police Department are conducting an investigation.”
North Sioux City Police Chief Rich Headid said they took all precautions and believes the issue has been addressed and handled properly.
“We can share that in any situation involving actual or alleged threats, the outcomes of the investigation determine the appropriate legal and disciplinary action, as well as conditions placed upon a student such as evaluations and counseling,” Headid said.
