For over 15 years, Elk Point and surrounding communities have been supporting the local blood bank, LifeServe Blood Center, at the community blood. The drive held Tuesday, Sept. 7 was a heroic effort to keep the blood supply safe as the area enters a busy school year. LifeServe Blood Center collected 35 units of blood, the highest number collected in Elk Point since 2014, saving up to 105 local lives.

Milestone donations include Patricia Curry, one gallon; Ralph Morse, three gallons; Janet Rigg, four gallons; Matthew Dosdall, 10 gallons; Rosemary Suing, 12 gallons; and Donald Schurdevin, 13 gallons.

The next blood drive will be Tuesday, Nov. 23 from 1-5:30pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elk Point.
