Adams Homestead event shines through the snow

Snowfall on November 8, 2025 did not stop people from stepping back in time to visit the Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve for this year’s “Christmas at the Homestead”. The parking lot and grounds were filled, as people came to enjoy baked goods, hot dogs, cocoa, coffee and a fun holiday atmosphere. Choir singing and crafts were also a part of the afternoon festivities.

Birthday celebration at district retirees event

Three longtime EP-EPJ staff members— Lois Matson, Delories Rosenbaum and Delores Vondrak—were honored with a surprise celebration of their 90th birthdays during the district’s annual retirees’ gathering Oct. 29 at the Pointe.

Panthers at All-State Chorus

All-State Chorus for the South Dakota High School Activities Association (SDHSAA) took place on November 1, 2025 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls. The best high school singers from throughout the Mount Rushmore state were together for this annual event with a full day of rehearsal also happening on October 31, 2025.

Vocalists selected for Morningside arts festival

Recently several talented vocalists from Elk Point-Jefferson were selected to participate in the 2026 Morningside Vocal Arts Festival. This event, which takes place on January 11-12, 2026, allows the best high school singers in the tri-state area to come together and perform on the campus of Morningside University.

Regional play in Class A volleyball started for the Huskies on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. It was an away contest as Elk Point-Jefferson was seeded #5 to take on the #4 C-Hawks in Canton.

NSC planning approves River Drive build

The North Sioux City Planning Commission approved a building permit for 760 River Drive during a special meeting Nov. 3, allowing the project to move forward with grading and foundation work ahead of a planned spring opening.
