A Husky Homecoming suprise: Multiple players make a touchdown

Much like on a game show where everyone wins a prize, it seemed like every Husky was going to get a touchdown during their Homecoming game Sept. 23 against the Flandreau Flyers. Siouxland Humane Society brings back Quilt Auction

The Siouxland Humane Society will hold a live Quilt Auction on Thursday, Oct. 13, at the Sioux City Community Theatre at 1401 Riverside Blvd. Appetizers will be served and a cash bar will be available.

Five community members hit donation milestones

For over 15 years, Elk Point and surrounding communities have supported the local blood bank, LifeServe Blood Center, with at least six blood donation opportunities per year. Over the course of September, one blood drive was hosted to 120+ local hospitals that LifeServe Blood Center serves. We successfully collected 29 units of blood that has the ability to save up to 87 local lives.

Class of 1972 holds reunion

The Jefferson Class of 1972 held a reunion. They had 14 class members show up for their 50th reunion. There were a total of 29 people in our class at JHS. Of those four are deceased. We met Saturday, Sept. 24 at Beano and Sherry’s for food and drinks. The group had old annuals and photos to look over. They reminisced on several events about the old school and class trips. Two sets of royalty reign over 2022 Homecoming

King Chace Fornia and Queen Alyssa Chytka, pictured at left, were crowned Elk Point-Jefferson’s 2022 Homecoming King and Queen, but they weren’t the only ruler’s in town. Prairie Estates Care Center also crowned a Homecoming King and Queen of their own.

Lokhorst: He’s been everywhere

Not many people can relate to Johnny Cash’s song “I’ve Been Everywhere,” but John Lokhorst can. After Sunday, Sept. 11, Lokhorst had accomplished a goal that took him almost 25 years to complete. He rode a motorcycle in every state in the United States.
