Warrant issued in suspicious death

An arrest warrant has been issued in the suspicious death of a Dakota Dunes woman who was found deceased in her Wellington Apartment Wednesday, April 26. According to the South Dakota Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the death was determined suspicious in nature.

Powell advances to nationals in Poetry Out Loud

Night fire damages three homes in North Sioux City

A house fire in North Sioux City destroyed one home and damaged two others April 18. The North Sioux City Fire Department was dispatched at 11:13 p.m. with a report of a structure fire at 801 Campbell Street in North Sioux City.

The Huskies had four contests from April 13-21. The Elk Point-Jefferson softball team played Gayville- Volin April 13, Beresford April 14 and West Central April 17.

New DV head football coach

After 10 years, Dakota Valley will have a new leader in their football program. Dakota Valley School District hired Kenny Wilhite as the new head coach beginning in the fall of 2023 season.

EPJ Girls host first dual

The Elk Point-Jefferson girls golf team hosted a dual with Dakota Valley and two Flandreau players April 18 on their home golf course at The Pointe. Madison Buenger of EPJ was the individual medalist for the contest with the lowest score of 41.

Elk Point - Jefferson Jazz Band places 1st at festival

The Elk Point-Jefferson Jazz Band competed at the Brooking Optimist Jazz Festival Thursday, April 13. The band earned 1st place in their last competition of the year.

Giorgio awarded CRWS scholarship

The Clay Rural Water System Board of Directors has announced that Sophia Giorgio of Elk Point-Jefferson and Macy Quartier and Irelyn Fickbohm, both of Beresford, are recipients of the water systems annual scholarship program – the Jack and Arlene DeVany Scholarship Program.
