It was 9 games in 6 days for the Panther varsity softball team as they headed into May. Dakota Valley ended April undefeated, but would see fierce competition in their week of games from May 1-6.

Land agreements discussed

The purchase agreement with Graham Aviation was publicly disclosed at the North Sioux City Council meeting May 1. After an executive session on April 11, the council had approved the Fifth Amendment to Real Estate Purchase Agreement with Graham Aviation and authorized Mayor Patti Teel and Finance Of_cer Amy Lilly to execute the agreement.

Adams to host Donkey Dash

Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve will be hosting their annual Donkey Dash 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, May 20. Academy students train at NSC fire department

StudentsfromtheSiouxland Career Academy’s Fire Science Program had the opportunity to train with some different equipment than they’re used to thanks to the North Sioux City Fire Department. The 23 students were able to utilize May Day training equipment April 21 for about four hours.

Cause of fire determined

The cause for the house _re at 801 Campbell Street in North Sioux City has been determined by South Dakota Fire Marshal Paul Coon. The _re, which was reported at 11:13 p.m. on April 18, was ruled not criminal in nature and started from a company vehicle parked outside of the residence. Property Tax Refund Program open

South Dakota senior citizens and citizens with disabilities have until July 1 to apply for sales or property tax refunds under South Dakota’s Tax Refund Program. Under the program, certain individuals are able to receive a portion of the sales or property taxes they paid from the previous year if they meet the eligibility requirements.
