Masons to serve Friends Feast

The June Friends Feast will be held on Monday, June 12, from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The meal will be provided by the Masons, with assistance from Horizon Health Care. Menu will be announced at a later date. All are welcome at this free community meal.

Preaching and teaching the community for 19 years

June 25 will be a bittersweet day for many in the Elk Point community as Pastor David Bambas says farewell to the community he’s known for the last 19 years. Bambas has been a pastor with the United Methodist Church (now the Global Methodist Church (GMC)) for 38 years.

Dakota Valley lady Panthers bring home fourth place trophy

It was the inaugural season for sanctioned high school softball in South Dakota this year and the Panthers were a part of history at the state tournament to start the month of June. Qualifying teams travelled to Aberdeen, with Class A and Class B playing games at The Players Complex, while Class AA played ball on the campus of Northern University.

Panthers receive recognition

The South Dakota Softball Coaches Association Academic All-State team includes seniors who were nominated by their coach and have a GPA of 3.5 or above. In Class A, Dakota Valley’s seniors to receive this recognition were Logan Miller and Emma Wiese.

Seniors named to Academic All-State teams

Dakota Valley Panthers who were named to the Class B Region 1 Academic All-State team were Isaac Bruns, Jake Pruchniak and Randy Rosenquist. These seniors were named to the team because they met the requirements of having a GPA of 3.5 or above.

Two Dakota Valley baseball seniors made the cut as finalists for South Dakota High School Baseball Association’s (SDHSBA) Class B Player of the Year for the 2023 season. Jaxon Hennies and Jake Pruchniak were 2 of 5 players from the state to be named to this exclusive list.

Virginia Military Institute commissions new officers

Approximately 170 Virginia Military Institute cadets, commissioned into the armed services in Cameron Hall Monday, May 15 in the annual Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) joint commissioning ceremony. Food Truck Sunday

A wonderful Sunday was had by Dakota Dunes residents on June 4. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Dakota Dunes Community Association (DDCA) hosted three food trucks at the Prairie Park in Dakota Dunes. Murder suspect extradited back to SD

Alfredo Castellanos-Rosales was released from Webb County Jail in Laredo, TX on May 31 into the hands of another law enforcement agency and is being transported back to Union County, SD.
