Panthers have a successful state appearance

The Panther girls golf team drove, chipped and putted their hearts out to a 4th place team finish at state, plus three individual medals on June 5 and 6 in Rapid City. Lexi Squier, Claire Wiebelhaus, Katie Betsworth and Addicyn Sailer competed as a team for two days on the Meadowbrook Golf Course. Great scores and a passion for the game had the Panthers ending the season on a high note.

South Dakota athletes participate in State Trap Meet

South Dakota – High school athletes and teams representing schools from across the state scheduled to participate at 2023 South Dakota State High School Clay Target League State Tournament in June. The SDSHSCTL Trap Shooting State Tournament was held at the Aberdeen Gun Club June 10-11.

Dakota Valley starts Legion ball

Legion baseball season in South Dakota has started and the Dakota Valley Post 319 Panthers are off to a strong start in the senior league for 19-year-olds and younger. The DV squad won their legion ball home opener on Tuesday, June 6 versus Elk-Point Jefferson’s senior legion team by a score of 6-1.

All-State teams

In Class A, Dakota Valley’s Logan Miller was named as an infielder and Elk Point-Jefferson’s Josie Curry was recognized as an infielder under honorable mention. Elk Point-Jefferson’s Sophia Giorgio was recognized as an outfield under honorable mention.

All Together Now

The North Sioux City Library held their annual summer reading kick-off event on Tuesday, June 6. Activities were held from 1 to 4 p.m. and included a bike rodeo, petting zoo, catered lunch, snow cones, face painting, crafts area and yard games. This year’s summer reading them is “All Together Now.”

Sioux Point Road project update

Construction work on the Sioux Point Road realignment project is getting closer to completion. The North Sioux City City Council heard the update at their meeting June 5. Dane Ekdom with Stockwell Engineers was present to provide the update.

On the sidelines, in the bleachers and always a dad

It is not always easy being the coach’s kid, but for Dakota Dunes resident Amy Ramos that role has led to a lot of incredible moments with her dad. From childhood to adulthood this father and daughter have shared a bond through softball, and life, that Ramos holds close to her heart.

Panthers play in Class B State Championship

The Panther baseball team made it to the final four in the Class B state tournament playoffs on May 29 and May 30. A big win in the quarterfinals and a close loss in the semifinals had Dakota Valley leaving Sioux Falls after many innings of great ball. They would end the spring season with an impressive 15-2 record.
