Cole Reinhardt has a big goal. He wants to be the youngest coach in the National Football League (NFL) one day. But there are many steps before Reinhardt gets to that point. For now, he is a film assistant with the University of South Dakota football program.

“I can literally be doing anything from filming to doing the computer stuff, but it just depends on the day,” Reinhardt said.

A typical Friday morning for Reinhardt is usually spent filming the team’s defense.

“Any other day, I help scout out opponents by filling out our [down and distance] reports on other teams’ defenses and offenses,” Reinhardt said. “Other than that, I do anything that the team requires whenever they require it.”

He’s a freshman, with a History Education major and he plans to minor in Coaching.

“I knew I wanted to coach,” Reinhardt said. “I just didn’t know how, because what most people do is they play through their years of college ball, and then they turn around and say ‘Hey, I want to coach.’ But I didn’t really have that opportunity, so I needed another way in.”
