Talk about fast starts – EPJ had an 8-point lead on the Irene-Wakonda Eagles with under a minute gone in the game. They went on to win at home 75-57 Dec. 31.

Adam Grashoff was on fire in the lane, ending up with 21 points and 18 rebounds. Although they led 31-21 at the half, EPJ let the Eagles work their way back into the game and the score was tied at 44 early in the 4th quarter.

Head coach Jake Otkin called a timeout and suggested that any players who did not wish to hustle their butts off should just stay on the bench (or words to that effect). That seemed to do the trick, as the Huskies went on an 8-0 run. The comeback was fueled by some nifty assists from Tyler Goehring – first a bullet pass to Ethan Hammitt, who drained a 3; then a lob over the defense into Grashoff for an easy bucket; then another pass to Hammitt for 3. EPJ went on to score 31 points in the quarter for a decisive win.
