Dakota Valley advances to 2nd round

It was imperfect weather, but a perfect game for a true football fan as both teams scored in every quarter.

Dakota Valley got the early lead and held on to defeat Rapid City St. Thomas More 46-30 in the quarterfinals of post-season football. The Cavaliers closed the deficit to 2, 32-30 with just over 7 minutes left, but Dakota Valley scored 2 touchdowns in just over a minute of play to ice the game with 2 minutes left.

The Panthers received the opening kickoff. In 2 minutes and 29 seconds, they ran 6 plays and 78 yards as Sam Chesterman scored in a 34-yard run. The 2-point conversion failed.

The team traded possessions. STM then marched 50 yards to the DV 5 before settling for a field goal.

Chayce Montagne returned the kickoff to the 21. On the first play, Nate Rice ran 79 yards for a TD. The 2-point conversion failed.

STM started their possession from the 24. On the first play, they connected for a 76-yard TD pass. The PAT failed.

Zion Robinson fielded the kickoff at the 15 and ran 85 yards for a TD. Trey Bowen’s PAT was good. Robinson also got the tackle on DV’s kickoff.
