Ronald W. Hoffman, 83, of Elk Point, died May 21, 2019 at Prairie Estates Health Care Center in Elk Point,.

Ronald Hoffman was born in Elk Point Sept. 16, 1935 to Edward (Dick) and Ella Hoffman. He married Beverley Clifford Sept. 8, 1956. Mr. Hoffman served in the Navy from 1956-1958, stationed in Corpus Christie, TX. After leaving the navy, he returned to Elk Point and held various jobs. He was an REA lineman and a delivery man for Roberts’ Dairy before joining his father at Hoffman Standard on Main Street. He opened Hoffman Oil Company in 1967 on the west side of town and operated there until his retirement in 1998.

He was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed golfing and was a charter member at the Elk Point Country Club. He also enjoyed hunting, boating and snowmobiling and stretching the truth now and then. But most importantly, he was a family man who loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Beverley; his children, Scott (Patricia) Hoffman, Rhonda (Jeff) Reed, Mark (Becky) Hoffman, Kelly (Todd) Heine and Dena (Jason) Fornwald; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sisters, Shirley (Jon) Larsen and and Kay (Darmon) Staum; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Hoffman.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Dick.
