Thirteen years ago, Kelly Kistner joined the McCook Lake Izaak Walton League because he and his wife, Patrice, were worried about what was happening on and around the lake. What turned into volunteering to help led to a life of being involved on local, state and national boards.

A couple years after joining, Kistner became the vice president of the McCook Lake Chapter of the Izaak Walton League. In 2013 he was elected state division president. In 2016 he was elected National Vice President. Now he is serving as the National President for two, one-year terms. After those terms, he will sit on the executive board for two years. His responsibilities as president are about the same as being the vice president – monthly conference calls, budget calls, attending conferences, sending emails and conducting phone calls from division members.
