Seven areas went up for lease at public auction during the Union County Commissioner’s meeting Tuesday, Sept. 3. Five of the seven areas are on the fairground property – Beef Barn, Show Ring, Meeting Room, Hoop Building and Fairground Parking Area; the other two properties are the vacant lot across from the courthouse and 13.006 acres of farmland.

Two representatives of Farmers Coop Society in Alcester put in the minimum bid of $2,500 for the Fairground Parking Area and Larry Donnelly put in the minimum bid of $175 per acre for the farmland.

The other five areas are still available for lease through the county at the published minimum bids on a first-come, first-served basis.

The commissioners held a public hearing for the adoption of the 2020 provisional budget to which there was no objections.

The meeting adjourned at 9:07 a.m. The next meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 8:30 a.m.
